He earned a Master of Divinity from Calvin Theological Seminary in 2002, with intensives in counseling and marriage and family systems. He has extra training in restorative justice and conversations. He finished a certificate program at Rhodes Wellness College in Vancouver. He has over 20 years in human services. He has worked as a teacher, special needs aide, church pastor, non-profit administrator and youth support worker. He taught overseas and trained orphanage staff in Ukraine.
