How CoachVouch Builds Its Coaching Benchmarks

CoachVouch builds its benchmarks from public information about real coaches. We collect it, clean it, and report it with the sample size next to every number, so you can judge how much weight each figure can carry.

What is in the index

The CoachVouch index holds 26,324 coaches in six fields: Dating and relationships, business, fitness and health, admissions consulting, career, and executive and leadership coaching. We find coaches through public coach directories, coaching association member lists, coaching marketplaces, and coaches' own websites. A coach who works in more than one field counts in each field, but only once in the total.

Where the rates come from

Rates come only from coaches who publish a price in public. We collected them in September 2026.

• Hourly rates come from 10,363 coaches who list an hourly rate on their profile in a large public coach directory. Coaches there post a rate or a range in their own currency.
• Marketplace rates come from a coaching marketplace where coaches post one hourly price. We use these only for the admissions, interview and other marketplace figures, and we label them that way.
• Monthly prices come from coaches who post a monthly plan price on their own website. These are a separate, smaller group, and we never mix them with hourly rates in one number.

We do not use prices from sales calls, private quotes, or surveys of what clients say they paid.

Sample sizes by coach type

How we calculate the numbers

• One number per coach. When a coach lists a range, such as $100 to $200 an hour, we use the middle of that range for that coach. We also report the typical low end and high end of the ranges coaches post.
• Typical rate means the median. Half of coaches charge more and half charge less. We lead with the median because a small group of very high rates pulls the average up.
• Ranges are the middle half. When we say most coaches charge $X to $Y, we mean the 25th to 75th percentile. We also show the bottom 10% and top 10% lines.
• Cleaning. We drop rates below $20 an hour or above $5,000, and ranges where the high end is below the low end.
• Minimum sample size. We do not report any group with fewer than 20 coaches, and we show the number of coaches (n) next to every figure.
• Currency. Coaches post rates in US, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand dollars, pounds, and euros. We convert every rate to US dollars at the European Central Bank reference rate for 28 September 2026.
• Estimates are labeled. Totals such as "12 sessions would cost about $2,256" are our math (rate times sessions). We mark them as estimates.

How we group coaches

Coach types (executive, leadership, career, and so on) come from the titles coaches choose on their profiles. Many coaches list several titles, so the same coach can count in more than one type. A few types are built from what coaches say they do: Interview coaches are career coaches whose profiles offer interview preparation, executive functioning coaches list ADHD coaching or mention executive function, and nutrition coaches are health or fitness coaches whose profiles mention nutrition. Business coaches are coaches who list business coach, small business coach, or entrepreneurship coach. Credentials are counted only when a coach lists them. Countries come from the location on the coach's profile.

Outside sources

Some pages compare coaching with other services, such as therapy, career counseling, or consulting. Those figures come from outside sources, which we name on the page and link in a Sources list. We read each source before citing it, and we do not mix outside figures into our own numbers.

Limits to keep in mind

• Coaches who publish rates may price differently from coaches who only quote after a call.
• Posted hourly rates are not package prices. Many coaches sell packages that work out to a different hourly price.
• Most rates come from coaches who list themselves on public directories, and a majority are based in the United States.
• We measure prices, not results. A higher rate in our data does not prove better coaching.

We recheck the index and rerun every benchmark each quarter. Each page shows when its data was last checked. Figures on this site were last checked in September 2026.
