There are 122,974 coach practitioners worldwide, according to the International Coaching Federation's (ICF) 2025 Global Coaching Study. That is a record high and 13% more than in 2023. CoachVouch has data on 28,028 coaches across 15 fields, and life coaching (12,982) is the largest. On price, most coaches charge $85 to $199 an hour, based on 10,363 coaches.

Life coaching is the biggest field, with 46% of all coaches. Executive and business coaching come next, each with more than a third. Sales and public speaking coaching are the smallest.

The ICF gives the leading worldwide count. Its 2025 Global Coaching Study is its sixth since 2007 and draws on 10,035 survey responses from coaches.

Executive coaches charge the most. Relationship coaches charge the least. Many coaches list "life coach" next to a more specific specialty, so ask which kind of work fills most of their week.
What the numbers mean if you are hiring
- Life, executive and business coaching have the most supply. Each has close to 10,000 coaches or more, so compare a few before you choose.
- Experienced coaches serve leaders. In the ICF study, 38% of coaches with over ten years of experience mainly serve executives. Among coaches with under one year of experience, only 18% work with executives. If you are a leader, a coach with a long track record is easy to find.
- Most coaching is part time. The ICF found active coaches spend an average of 11.6 hours a week coaching and work with 12.4 active clients. Ask a coach how much of their week goes to coaching.
- The US is the biggest market. More than half of coaches work in the United States.
- Few coaches list a credential. Just 5% list an ICF credential or name the ICF. Ask every coach about their training.
