Background and qualifications
Vongaishe was born in Zimbabwe and grew up in Michigan. Vongaishe earned a Mechanical Engineering degree at the University of Notre Dame from 2019 to 2023, and is now pursuing a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at Columbia University. Research took place at Notre Dame and Stanford, including work in Professor Dan Congreve's lab on thin-film near-infrared to visible upconversion. Vongaishe served as a Notre Dame Student Ambassador and now mentors with Black Ivy through the ROOTS program.
