Background and qualifications
Bruce trained as a teacher at Grinnell College and earned his high school teaching certificate. He then worked as a professional musician and toured the country with his band. He taught himself the GMAT, was accepted to Wharton, and earned his MBA. After that he worked in marketing at General Mills, did strategy and financial consulting in Silicon Valley, and helped friends launch start-ups. He was also a founding partner in a company that ran live music venues in San Francisco and Oakland. He later started First Choice Admissions and taught test prep at UCLA.
